Softball Game Preview: Pope John Paul II vs. Pottstown Trojans

Pope John Paul II is a perfect 10-0 against Pottstown since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Pope John Paul II will head out on the road to square off against Pottstown at 4:00 p.m. Pope John Paul II is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

While Pope John Paul II's win against Archbishop Carroll wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Pope John Paul II had just enough and edged out Archbishop Carroll 4-3. The victory was nothing new for Pope John Paul II as they're now sitting on three straight.

At the plate, Abby Simmers was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Molly Houchins, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Pottstown came up short against Phoenixville on Wednesday, falling 21-2. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pottstown's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Pope John Paul II, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Everything went Pope John Paul II's way against Pottstown in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Pope John Paul II made off with a 22-3 victory. Will Pope John Paul II repeat their success, or does Pottstown has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
