Softball Recap: Morgan Raiders vs. Tri-Valley Scotties
Morgan extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 8-9 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Tri-Valley Scotties. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Raiders have suffered since April 1st.
Blair Clawson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Tri-Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.
On Tri-Valley's side, Paiton Murphy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. Murphy has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Larsyn Holdsworth, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Katelyn Paxson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
