Basketball Recap: Mitchell Comes Up Short

Mitchell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 39th straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Elizabeth Cardinals and fell 56-14. The Marauders were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

Elizabeth found their leader in sophomore Cohen Steinke, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 21 points and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Steinke has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Bryan Jeffs, who posted nine points and three steals.

Mitchell's defeat dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Elizabeth, their victory ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-10.

Mitchell will host The Classical Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Classical Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Elizabeth has already played their next matchup (against Sierra), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
