Volleyball Recap: Goleman Falls to Southwest in First Game of Season

Goleman had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost 3-0 to the Southwest Eagles on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Gators have suffered since March 18, 2024.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Southwest scored at least 17 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-19, 25-17.

Branley Borrego paced Goleman's offense, picking up 13 kills. Borrego got some help from Carlos Delgado and his 26 assists.

Shia Decastro was the offensive standout of the contest as he had ten digs.

Goleman didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Tampa Bay HEAT on the 7th. As for Southwest, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 win against King's Academy on the 6th.
