Mountain Island Charter suffers fourth straight loss at home

The Mountain Island Charter Raptor suffered their biggest loss since November 29, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against Lincoln Charter, falling 56-29. Mountain Island Charter has not had much luck with Lincoln Charter recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Mountain Island Charter's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cayla Bridgewater, who scored nine points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Kayla Fudge, who scored three points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.

Mountain Island Charter struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Mountain Island Charter bumped their record down to 5-8 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.8 points per game. As for Lincoln Charter, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain Island Charter will square off against Community School of Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Community School of Davidson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday. As for Lincoln Charter, they will head out on the road to challenge Corvian Community at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Corvian Community will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 502nd, while Lincoln Charter is ranked 135th).
