Recap: Laguna Beach Breakers vs. Dana Hills Dolphins

The Laguna Beach Breakers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 84-59 walloping at the hands of Dana Hills. While losing is never fun, Laguna Beach can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 197th, while Dana Hills is ranked 34th).

Laguna Beach lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dylan Mceachern, who scored 19 points. Mceachern scored a full 32.2% of Laguna Beach's points, the tenth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mack Thompson, who scored 15 points.

Leading Dana Hills to victory were Collin Haugh and Logan Scodeller. Haugh scored 29 points, while Scodeller dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which Haugh has scored at least 25% of Dana Hills' points. Another player making a difference was Ryan Torab, who scored 14 points.

Laguna Beach has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. As for Dana Hills, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Laguna Beach and San Clemente will round out the year against one another at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. San Clemente is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 62.4 points per game. Dana Hills will finish 2023 at home by hosting Highland at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Highland is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
