Basketball Game Preview: Hinckley-Big Rock Royals vs. Newark Norsemen

The Hinckley-Big Rock Royals will square off against the Newark Norsemen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hinckley-Big Rock has three straight wins, Newark has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Saturday, Hinckley-Big Rock escaped with a win against Lena-Winslow by the margin of a single free throw, 67-66.

Meanwhile, Newark ended up a good deal behind Morris on Monday and lost 72-53. The Norsemen were down 58-37 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Hinckley-Big Rock will need focus on slowing down Dylan Long, one of several Newark players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 20 points. Another player making a difference was Jimmy Kath, who scored eight points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Newark's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Hinckley-Big Rock, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Hinckley-Big Rock didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Newark when the teams last played back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 66-62 victory.
