Basketball Recap: McIntosh Comes Up Short

After soaring to 61 points the game before, McIntosh was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They had to suffer through a 61-20 loss at the hands of the Starr's Mill Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Chiefs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 354th, while the Panthers are ranked 174th).

Starr's Mill found their leader in sophomore Lindsey Kopacek, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Kopacek is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ava Hendrie, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 13 points.

McIntosh's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Starr's Mill, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

McIntosh will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Sandy Creek at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Starr's Mill, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 41-36 defeat against Griffin on the 21st.
