Recap: Philip Barbour Colts vs. Elkins Tigers
The Philip Barbour Colts were the 56-38 winner over the Elkins Tigers when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Philip Barbour fell 49-42 to Elkins on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Philip Barbour has scored all season.
Philip Barbour's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Izzy Knotts, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 15 rebounds. Knotts hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 11 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylyn Sparks, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Philip Barbour and nudges their season record down to 13-4. As for Elkins, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-6.
Philip Barbour didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-52 defeat vs. Lewis County on the 8th. Elkins has also already played their next matchup, a 38-32 win against Buckhannon-Upshur on the 8th.
