Basketball Recap: Statesville Snags Fifth Win in Last Six Games

Statesville had won two straight home games and Paul Cauthen did his part to make it three on Monday. Everything went the Statesville Greyhounds' way against the West Iredell Warriors as the Statesville Greyhounds made off with an 85-65 win thanks to Cauthen, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 45.1% shooting accuracy.

The team also got some help courtesy of Ameiyon Jehahj Sherrill, who made all 5 shots he took for 15 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

When it comes to explaining why West Iredell lost, don't look at Jordan Patterson. Despite the final result, he went 14-for-21 en route to 31 points and five rebounds. Patterson's evening made it 25 games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was David Bunton, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 12 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Statesville has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 15-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.2 points over those games. As for West Iredell, they now have a losing record of 12-13.

Statesville has already played their next game, a 76-49 defeat against North Lincoln on the 18th. West Iredell does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
