Basketball Recap: Senn Bulldogs vs. Mather Rangers
Senn and Mather squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Senn had to settle for second. They took a 39-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mather Rangers. Bulldogs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Rangers since on Saturday.
Loss or not, Senn got some senior leadership from Layian Asif and Ella Shanley. Asif posted ten points, while Shanley put up nine points.
Mather's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kayrhianna Jackson led the charge by putting up 14 points in addition to eight steals and six boards. That's the most steals Jackson has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Janelle Eliot, who earned 13 points along with five rebounds and four blocks.
Senn's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-10. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.0 points over those games. As for Mather, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.
Senn does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mather, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 91-21 loss against Loyola Academy on the 17th.
