Baseball Game Preview: Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers vs. Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders

The Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers will take on the Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Hollidaysburg will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating Bellefonte, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Golden Tigers blew past the Raiders 13-3 on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Golden Tigers, who have now won three games by six runs or more so far this season.

Brady Steiner was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one double.

In other batting news, Hollidaysburg let Josh Banks and Cayden Gibbons run wild. Banks went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Gibbons went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Banks is becoming a predictor of Hollidaysburg's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Jay Albarano was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Bishop Guilfoyle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Bellefonte, falling 20-10. On the bright side, the ten- run effort marked the Marauders' highest-scoring contest to date.

Hollidaysburg's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Bishop Guilfoyle, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Hollidaysburg took their victory against Bishop Guilfoyle in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-1 score. Do the Golden Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Marauders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
