Softball Recap: Eastern View's Run of Five Straight Victories Now Over

Eastern View dropped their record down to 16-3 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the King George Foxes by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Foxes this season, with their most recent loss being a 1-0 defeat on May 6th.

Cailin Rendell put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 25 batters over 12.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than 12 strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Sara Hopper was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-6 with one home run.

As for King George, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games.

On King George's side, Kelsea Minter spent all 13 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, King George saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Selena Buckwalter, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. The dominant performance also gave Buckwalter a new career-high in hits (two).

As of now, neither Eastern View nor King George have any future games scheduled.
