Basketball Recap: L.C. Bird Takes a Loss

L.C. Bird entered their contest against Manchester on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The L.C. Bird Skyhawks were outmatched by the Manchester Lancers and fell 66-34. The matchup marked the Skyhawks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, L.C. Bird saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kylie Kent posted eight points and ten rebounds.

It was another big night for Rayne Wright, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten boards for Manchester. Wright's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Madison Smith was another key player, putting up eight points along with ten rebounds and five steals.

L.C. Bird's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-5. As for Manchester, their win was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2.

L.C. Bird has already played their next contest (against Huguenot), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Manchester has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Glen Allen.
