Basketball Recap: University Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

It was a good run, but University unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They lost 51-30 to the Apopka Blue Darters. Having soared to a lofty 55 points in the game before, the Cougars couldn't push the score so high this time.

Loss or not, University got some senior leadership from Hudson Maurer and Levi Hubbard. Maurer posted nine points, while Hubbard earned five points. Jared Caraballo also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Apopka had a senior duo take command as Jahi Bowden went 8 for 13 en route to 16 points and six steals and Jermichael Johnson went 8 of 15 on his way to 17 points and seven boards. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for Bowden. Jude Angervil was another key player, putting up ten points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.

University's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6. As for Apopka, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

University wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 57-55 win against Colonial on the 24th. As for Apopka, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-47 loss against Windermere on the 24th.
