Basketball Recap: Matilda Parrish Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat First Christian

First Christian typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday P.K. Yonge proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victor by a 59-36 margin over the First Christian Lions. P.K. Yonge's victory was all the more impressive since the Lions were averaging only 29.38 points allowed on the season.

P.K. Yonge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Matilda Parrish led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Parrish a new career-high in points. Montinique Williams was another key player, going 6 of 10 on her way to 16 points in addition to five boards and five steals.

First Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Reagan Davis, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Davis is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Graham, who posted four points and ten boards.

P.K. Yonge's win bumped their record up to 4-17. As for First Christian, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-2.

P.K. Yonge will challenge West Port at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for First Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 51-20 victory against Northside Christian Academy on the 24th.
