Softball Recap: Germantown Wins Going Away Against Brookhaven

Germantown won against Pisgah last Monday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Germantown Mavericks were the clear victor by a 12-2 margin over the Brookhaven Panthers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mavericks.

Olivia Hager looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Presley Merkich was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Carrington Holloway was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.

Germantown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now hit at least eight hits in six consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Germantown's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Brookhaven, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, Germantown is taking a road trip to face off against Warren Central at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Brookhaven, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Terry at 6:30 p.m.
