Baseball Recap: Stroud Tigers vs. Stratford Bulldogs
While Stroud's win against Stratford wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Stroud sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over Stratford on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won seven in a row.
Jessen Leathers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He has become a key player for Stroud: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise.
