Basketball Game Preview: Baker Hornets vs. Pine Forest Eagles

The Baker Hornets will be taking part in a tournament against the Pine Forest Eagles at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Baker is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Clay-Chalkville just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 51-49. The game marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Pine Forest was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 59-48 to Booker T. Washington. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 415th, while the Wildcats are ranked 158th).

Baker will have to contain Micah Franklin as he made an impact in Pine Forest's last game. He went 7 of 14 en route to 20 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Marlin Williams, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Pine Forest now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Baker, their loss dropped their record down to 13-4.
