San Jacinto will take on Elsinore at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Friday, San Jacinto earned a 20-11 victory over Tahquitz. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Titans are ranked 472nd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
San Jacinto didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as RONNIE MCCAULEY, KINGSLEE TIVAO, and LONDON MIGUEL picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, Elsinore had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 34-18 win over the Titans.
San Jacinto better keep an eye on Lataevious Hernandez. He was instrumental in Elsinore's win, rushing for 146 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, and also catching one TD. Those 146 rushing yards gave Hernandez a new career-high. Korben Jackson helped out on the ground, rushing for 95 yards.
Elsinore was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 393 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 187 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Elsinore's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for San Jacinto, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Thursday's contest might be decided on the ground. San Jacinto has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 171.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Elsinore struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 294.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for San Jacinto against Elsinore in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 28-0 win. Will San Jacinto repeat their success, or does Elsinore has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
