Softball Game Preview: Canyon View Jaguars vs. Youngker Roughriders

The Canyon View Jaguars will face off against the Youngker Roughriders at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Canyon View has three straight wins, Youngker has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Canyon View got the win against Horizon by a conclusive 9-3.

Emily Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Canyon View let Sedona Hernandez and Brooke Downs run wild. Hernandez scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Downs scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, Hernandez posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Andrea Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Canyon View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Horizon only posted an OBP of .321.

Meanwhile, Youngker came up short against Odyssey Institute on Friday and fell 13-8.

Canyon View pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Youngker, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
