Basketball Game Preview: Magdalena Steers vs. Elida Tigers

The Magdalena Steers will challenge the Elida Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Magdalena is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season.

Elida will be up against a hot Magdalena team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Magdalena came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 40-34 W against Quemado.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Magdalena to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jorianne Mirabal, who posted 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Mirabal a new career-high in field goal percentage (67%). Another player making a difference was Elia Cleveland, who had 13 points.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Elida's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 56-38 bruising from Melrose.

Elida's loss dropped their record down to 17-12. As for Magdalena, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-6.
