The Largo Packers will take on the Steinbrenner Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Largo will be strutting in after a victory while Steinbrenner will be coming in after a loss.
Largo is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past St. Petersburg to the tune of 42-14 on Friday. Considering the Packers have won three games by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Anthony Harris was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 79 yards and one score.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Largo was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 362 rushing yards. They are a perfect 4-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for Largo, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Rashad Smith, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Steinbrenner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Alonso, falling 31-10.
Largo will need to focus on slowing down Rylen Dutka, one of several Steinbrenner players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 168 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 39 yards. 86 of Dutka's passing yards were hauled in by Chance Robertson.
Largo has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.6 points on average over those games. As for Steinbrenner, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Friday's contest might be decided in the trenches. Largo has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 218.6 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Steinbrenner, though, as they've been averaging only 81.7 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Largo and Steinbrenner were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in November of 2024, but Largo came up empty-handed after a 7-6 defeat.
