Recap: Antonito Trojans vs. Lake City
The Antonito Trojans were the 35-28 winner over Lake City when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. Antonito fell 30-21 to Lake City on Monday. Antonito has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Antonito had strong showings from Luz Elena Parra, who scored seven points along with six steals, and Cambria Rael, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Rael continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played.
Antonito dropped their record down to 1-13 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.1 points per game. As for Lake City, their victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Antonito won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Primero at 4:30 p.m. on February 13th. Antonito is facing Primero at the right time seeing as Primero is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Lake City, they will head out on the road to challenge Sangre de Cristo at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sangre de Cristopresents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lake City in Colorado (Sangre de Cristo is ranked 162nd, while Lake City is ranked 326th).
