Basketball Recap: Loyalton Takes a Loss

Loyalton played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Portola Tigers 85-45. The defeat continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost six in a row.

Portola was led to victory by Connor Sheridan and Magnus Berg. Sheridan dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten boards, while Berg dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten boards. The game was Berg's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Alexis Silva, who posted eight points.

Loyalton's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Portola, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2.

Loyalton and Herlong will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Portola, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Quincy at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
