Volleyball Recap: Jordyn Walker's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Scotland over Lumberton

After flying high against Purnell Swett last Thursday, Scotland came back down to earth. The Fighting Scots took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lumberton Pirates on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.

The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 24-26, 25-18, 25-15.

Scotland's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordyn Walker, who had 14 digs. Another player making a difference was Scarlett Hoover, who had 30 assists and three digs.

Among those leading the charge was Keelee Pittman, who had 14 digs and three assists. Those 14 digs gave her a new career-high. Giselle Leach also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.

Scotland's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Lumberton, they pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Scotland has already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Cape Fear on the 9th. As for Lumberton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Midway on the 8th.
