Baseball Game Preview: Plattsburg Tigers vs. Rock Port Blue Jays

Plattsburg has gone a perfect 3-0 against Rock Port recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Tigers will host the Blue Jays at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Plattsburg turned things around against South Harrison on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Bulldogs.

Rock Port never got on the board in their matchup last Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against North Platte on Monday. They blew past the Panthers 10-3. The Blue Jays might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.

Corbyn Jakub made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two hits in nine consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Tayden Cook was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Logan Ellis, who earned one RBI and two runs.

Rock Port has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Plattsburg, their win bumped their record up to 14-16.

Plattsburg came out on top in a nail-biter against Rock Port in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Blue Jays have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
