Basketball Recap: Althoff Catholic Takes a Loss

Althoff Catholic suffered their biggest defeat since November 19th on Tuesday. They took a blow against the Belleville East Lancers, falling 79-28. The Crusaders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-12.

Belleville East found their leader in sophomore Hailey Gray, who posted 25 points. Gray's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Vanessa Stacy, who put up 15 points.

Althoff Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Belleville East, their victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0.

Althoff Catholic and Collinsville will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Crusaders are facing the Kahoks at the right time seeing as the Kahoks are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. Belleville East will take on Edwardsville in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Lancers' defense better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 51.6 points per game this season.
