Columbiana came into this matchup off a tough 14-run defeat on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Salem by a score of 3-1 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Clippers have suffered since May 3, 2024.

Columbiana saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Conway, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. Liam McElwain also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, David Anderson was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They lost 14-2 to Heartland Christian. The Blue Devils haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Bryce Esarey was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 3.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only one hit. Esarey was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Columbiana's record is now 1-3. As for David Anderson, their record now sits at 3-2.

Columbiana took their win against David Anderson in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-6 score. Will the Clippers repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
