Basketball Recap: Wellpinit Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Wellpinit couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They came up short against the Neah Bay Red Devils on Friday, falling 53-30. The game marked the Redskins' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Neah Bay got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cerise Moss out in front who went 7-for-15 en route to 20 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. That's the most rebounds Moss has posted since back in December of 2024. Wiinuk 'Nu Nu' Martin was another key player, shooting 50% from the field on her way to 14 points and eight boards.

Wellpinit's loss dropped their record down to 22-3. As for Neah Bay, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 23-1.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Wellpinit won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Waterville/Mansfield at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday. Waterville/Mansfield will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Wellpinit surely won't give up without a fight. As for Neah Bay, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against Garfield-Palouse at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Neah Bay is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season.
