Volleyball Recap: Mira Mesa's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

After a string of four wins, Mira Mesa's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 3-1 to the Santana Sultans. The Marauders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sultans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.

The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-19, 18-25, 25-16.

Kanaiya Parham paced Mira Mesa's offense, picking up nine kills. Parham got some help from Sabrina Sampson and her 14 assists. Camille Collado controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Santana had a senior duo take command as Madison Fortuna had six digs and five kills and Vanessa Ryan had 19 digs and one assist. Fortuna has been hot, having also posted 22 or more assists the last six times she's played.

Mira Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Santana, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-3.

Mira Mesa has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against El Capitan on the 17th. As for Santana, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against West Hills on the 18th.
