Basketball Preview: Meyersdale Red Raiders vs. Salisbury Elk Lick Elks
The Meyersdale Red Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the Salisbury Elk Lick Elks at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Meyersdale has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 21.
Last Friday, Meyersdale took a serious blow against the Cougars, falling 77-39. Meyersdale has not had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Meanwhile, Salisbury Elk Lick can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent match on Thursday. They blew past Ferndale 46-23. Salisbury Elk Lick pushed the score to 38-9 by the end of the third, a deficit the Yellow Jackets cut but never quite recovered from.
Lance Jones and Drake Sellers were among the main playmakers for Salisbury Elk Lick as the former scored nine points along with five assists and five rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. Kobe Broadwater was another key contributor, scoring three points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Meyersdale's loss was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Salisbury Elk Lick, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Meyersdale ended up a good deal behind the Elks when the teams last played back in January, losing 43-25.
