Preview: Fox Chapel Foxes vs. Armstrong River Hawks
The Fox Chapel Foxes will head out on the road to face off against the Armstrong River Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fox Chapel has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Fox Chapel scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They strolled past Plum with points to spare, taking the game 70-55. Given Fox Chapel's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Mustangs are ranked 394th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fox Chapel got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jefferson Moorefield-Brown out in front who scored 15 points along with five assists and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Patterson, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Armstrong came up short against the Indians on Tuesday and fell 56-43. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Armstrong in their matchups with the Indians: they've now lost six in a row.
Fox Chapel now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Armstrong, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.
Fox Chapel beat the River Hawks 50-38 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fox Chapel since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
