Softball Recap: Juniata Valley's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After low-scoring totals in their previous three game, Juniata Valley brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Moshannon Valley Black Knights/Damsels on Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Hornets as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Braelyn Hall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kassidy Watson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Lexey Smith, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Juniata Valley's win bumped their record up to 6-7-1. As for Moshannon Valley, they dropped their record down to 4-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Juniata Valley will venture away from home to face off against West Branch at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Moshannon Valley, they will challenge Northern Cambria at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
