Baseball Recap: McAuley Catholic Warriors vs. Purdy Eagles
McAuley Catholic lost against Purdy back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Warriors came up short against the Eagles, falling 20-5. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Tyler Richards was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Richards was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was his first of the season.
Richards wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Maxwell Anreder, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. Will Mollnow also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
McAuley Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Purdy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3.
Coming up, McAuley Catholic will square off against Jasper at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Purdy, they will challenge Galena at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
