Softball Recap: Delaware Christian Drops Season-High Score on Shekinah Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Delaware Christian). They put the hurt on the Shekinah Christian Flames with a sharp 15-0 victory on Thursday. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Flames, too.

Ava Hovda made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ellia Edmonds, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Ashlyn McCoy was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Delaware Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matches.

Delaware Christian's record now sits at 2-4. As for Shekinah Christian, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Delaware Christian will venture away from home to square off against Mansfield Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Flames have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.89 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Shekinah Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Madison Christian at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
