Baseball Game Preview: Laurel Highlands Mustangs vs. West Mifflin Titans

For the second straight game, Laurel Highlands will face off against West Mifflin. The Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Laurel Highlands has struggled recently with nine losses in a row, while West Mifflin will arrive with eight straight wins.

Laurel Highlands came up short against West Mifflin on Tuesday, falling 11-3.

For West Mifflin's part, Jake Martina spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits. Martina has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, James Moneck was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Caden Wills also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

West Mifflin's victory was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Laurel Highlands, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
