Soccer Game Preview: Stockbridge vs. Jones County

Stockbridge is 0-6 against Jones County since March of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The Stockbridge Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Jones County Greyhounds at 5:00 p.m. Stockbridge has given up an average of 6.5 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Stockbridge is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals last Tuesday, they were much more limited against Ola on Tuesday. They lost 8-0 to the Mustangs.

Meanwhile, Jones County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Wolverines. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but the Greyhounds were the better team in the second half.

Jones County's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for Stockbridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Stockbridge might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Jones County in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can Stockbridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
