Football Game Preview: Houston County Fighting Irish vs. East Robertson Indians + How To Watch

The Houston County Fighting Irish will challenge the East Robertson Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Houston County and Hickman County, and Houston County kept the tradition alive. The Fighting Irish walked away with a 26-14 win over the Bulldogs on Friday.

Preston Mitchell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 163 yards and a pair of TDs. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making five total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.

Houston County's run defense was locked in: Hickman County could only muster 3.2 yards per carry. The team can thank Evan Norman for the heroic effort on defense: he. Houston County didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.6.

Houston County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Mitchell and Myquel Valerio. Mitchell's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 144 rushing yards.

Meanwhile, East Robertson strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past East Hickman County 43-12. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 20 points or more this season.

East Robertson's win came from a few key players Houston County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kason Young, who threw for 331 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes. Those 331 passing yards gave him a new career-high. East Robertson's leading receiver Cade Brooks was Young's top target yet again, picking up 136 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

East Robertson's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Houston County, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
