Volleyball Recap: West Springfield Spartans vs. Fairfax Lions

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Alexandria City, West Springfield was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They won by a set and slipped past the Fairfax Lions 3-2. That's more bragging rights for the Spartans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

West Springfield wouldn't go down easily and took Fairfax into a fifth set where they got it done with a seven-point win. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-21, 23-25, 21-25, 15-8.

West Springfield found their leader in sophomore Zach Talbot, who had 29 digs. Those 29 digs set a new season-high mark for Talbot.

West Springfield pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Fairfax, they moved to 10-8 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

As of now, neither West Springfield nor Fairfax have any future games scheduled.
