Basketball Recap: Lockland Comes Up Short

Lockland and Middletown Christian squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Lockland had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Middletown Christian Eagles, falling 63-25. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.

Lockland's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaylah Smith, who posted eight points and ten rebounds. Smith has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more boards the last 20 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Princes Webster, who earned six points and eight rebounds.

Lockland's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Middletown Christian, they pushed their record up to 18-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Lockland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Middletown Christian, they have already played their next game, a 65-31 defeat against Fort Loramie on the 22nd.
