Basketball Recap: Walnut Ridge Takes a Loss

Walnut Ridge lost against Olentangy Orange back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Walnut Ridge Scots were outmatched by the Olentangy Orange Pioneers and fell 72-45. The match marked the Scots' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Walnut Ridge still got an impressive performance from Lee'Sean Saunders, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 16 points. Another player making a difference was Diondre Thomas Reed, who posted six points.

Walnut Ridge's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-5. As for Olentangy Orange, their victory was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2.

Walnut Ridge and Olentangy Orange should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Walnut Ridge (ranked 125th) will meet Marion-Franklin (ranked 725th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Walnut Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68.6 points per game this season. Similarly, Olentangy Orange will challenge Upper Arlington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday up 59 places (2 vs. 61).
