Basketball Game Preview: Fort Meade Miners vs. Lake Region Thunder

Fort Meade hasn't had much luck against Lake Region recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Fort Meade Miners will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lake Region Thunder at 8:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

On Tuesday, Fort Meade earned a 59-50 win over Lake Placid.

It was another big night for Omari Russell, who posted 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. Mekhi Berrien was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Lake Region had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Tenoroc by a score of 62-55 on Monday.

Fort Meade is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Lake Region, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-16.

Fort Meade was dealt a bruising 82-40 defeat at the hands of Lake Region in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Thankfully for Fort Meade, Dwayne Lattimore (who went 8 of 14 en route to 18 points along with five boards and four steals) won't be suiting up this time.
