Softball Recap: Elgin Victorious

Elgin won the last time they faced Upper Scioto Valley and things went their way on Monday too. The Comets walked away with an 8-4 win over the Rams. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Comets.

Madison Hill made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gracelyn Edmonstone, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chloe Atha, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Elgin's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Upper Scioto Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Coming up, Elgin will head out on the road to square off against Perry at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Comets are facing the Commodores at the right time seeing as the Commodores are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Upper Scioto Valley, they will take on Hardin Northern at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Polar Bears have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season.
