Volleyball Recap: River Islands Wins Going Away Against Tokay

The River Islands Riptide made easy work of the Tokay Tigers on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Riptide.

One reason for the win was River Islands' just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-19, 25-16.

David Chua paced River Islands' offense, picking up 13 kills. Chua got some help from Urijah DeOcampo and his 22 assists. Chua was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.

River Islands' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. As for Tokay, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

River Islands and Tokay could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. River Islands (ranked 459th) will meet Lathrop (ranked 124th) at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Tokay will face off against Oakmont at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday down 475 places (801 vs. 326).
