Volleyball Recap: Montezuma-Cortez Takes a Loss

Montezuma-Cortez lost against Bayfield back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Panthers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolverines. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Bayfield scored at least 18 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-20, 22-25, 25-18.

TessaMercedes Jackson paced Montezuma-Cortez's offense, picking up 17 kills. Jackson got some help from Kescoleigh Boeckman and her 23 assists. Keeley Clarke controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Montezuma-Cortez's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Bayfield, they pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Montezuma-Cortez didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Pagosa Springs on the 13th. As for Bayfield, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Alamosa on the 11th.
