Noah Spence has taken a circuitous route to the NFL, one filled with amazing potential, devastating disappointment and ultimately redemption.

Spence was one of the most coveted defensive recruits coming out of high school at Bishop McDevitt (Harrisburg, Pa.). He had 22 sacks and 34 tackles for loss to go with 102 total tackles during his junior season. As a senior, Spence earned MaxPreps All-American Team honors and Medium Schools All-American Team honors after making 108 tackles with 12.5 sacks and 27 tackles for loss.

A former Ohio State standout in this first two collegiate seasons, Spence ran afoul of the Big Ten after failing several drug tests. He was suspended for the entire 2014 season and banned permanently from the Big Ten, which resulted in Spence transferring to Eastern Kentucky.

In his only season at Eastern Kentucky, Spence earned conference co-Defensive MVP honors while accumulating 22.5 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks and 63 tackles.

The latest CBS Sports mock draft boards have the 6-foot-2, 250-pound defensive end going in either the first or second round. He is listed as high as No. 18 to the Indianapolis Colts by one of five experts, another has him one pick later to the Buffalo Bills. Another has him at No. 20 to the Jets, another has him at 30th to the Arizona Cardinals and another doesn't have him in the first round.
