Softball Recap: Chatsworth Has No Trouble Against Cleveland

Chatsworth had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Cleveland on Monday. The Chancellors put the hurt on the Cavaliers with a sharp 9-1 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Chancellors also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Jazzlyn Melara, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lila Mashhoud, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Chatsworth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cleveland only posted a batting average of .083.

Chatsworth's win bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Cleveland, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chatsworth will challenge Birmingham at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Patriots will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Cleveland, they will square off against El Camino Real at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
