Football Recap: La Joya's Undefeated Season over After Four Games

Fans were treated to a battle of the Coyotes on Thursday. La Joya fell just short of Alice by a score of 27-24. If La Joya was looking for revenge after losing 19-0 to Alice when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, La Joya still got an impressive performance from Mauricio Mendoza, who rushed for 170 yards and one score while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. Mendoza is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 105 every time he's taken the field this season. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Luis Arjona, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Having lost for the first time this season, La Joya fell to 3-1. As for Alice, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Coming up, La Joya will be playing at home against Hanna at 7:30 p.m. on the 26th. As for Alice, they will head out to face off against Gregory-Portland at 7:30 p.m. on the 26th. The Coyotes will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
