Recap: Murphy Panthers vs. Theodore Bobcats
The Murphy Panthers pushed their score all the way to 75 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 85-75 to Theodore. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Murphy in their matchups with Theodore: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Murphy still got an impressive performance from Bryan Jackson, who scored 21 points along with five steals. Cordairus Dixon was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with four steals.
Theodore's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Houston Cunningham led the charge by dropping a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. The match was Cunningham's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaden "JJ" Bush, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Murphy's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-7. As for Theodore, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Murphy will challenge Saraland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Saraland has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19. As for Theodore, they will head out on the road to face off against Blount at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Blount is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.2 points per game.
